The Best of Broderie Anglais

Hello and welcome back

Its been over 2 years since I last wrote a blog post but I just thought with current Covid 19 pandemic it would be a great distraction to start writing again and just generally blogging about things I love or am doing. I do suffer with anxiety, something I have never spoken about before but this pandemic is obviously making my anxiety worse like it is for a lot of people. I just hope blogging again will help and I also hope it helps everyone reading my posts.

Today I thought I would post about my favourite fabric and item of clothing which is Broderie Anglais.

I have had an obsession with broderie for years, however a few years ago it came back into fashion in a big way (it was never out of fashion for me! ) but it was great to have so many broderie items on the high street again and every spring/ summer since.

I thought I would post a few photos of my favourite broderie anglais dresses that I wear every summer and there are quite a few more on my instagram la_dolce_lisa :)

If you love broderie anglais as much as me then I have added a few of my favourite broderie anglais items that are new in for this spring/summer. I may be purchasing a few of these!

The first 5 are from H&M and the rest are from Asos.

Please let me know in the comments which are your favourites and if you purchased any of them.

Thank you

Lisa xx

Teddy/Faux fur coats - New Look

Hi everyone

I don't know about you all but I am absolutely loving the whole Teddy/Faux fur trend.

Teddy coats are so warm and snuggly they just scream cosy and warm.

I bought this rather gorgeous faux fur/Teddy cost from New Look last month and since then I have not stopped wearing it.

New look are always consistently bringing out out some totally gorgeous items at such great prices.

I am also loving this pretty frill and fluted hem sleeve jumper also from New Look.

So how do you feel about the Teddy/Faux fur trend???

Life lately - sad news!

Hi everyone

I am so sorry after my post in June I said I was going to come back with lots of new posts however the past few months have not been great.

I am sad to say my wonderful amazing father sadly passed away on the 5th October and I have been truly devastated. Words cannot express how I feel to be honest, I can only honestly say that its a major loss in my life and the sense of loneliness and sadness I am feeling is extremely immense.

My mind has been all over the place and I have not felt like going out much at all.

Anyway I won't go on too much as I will end up in tears again.

Just to say I am determined to get back into blogging but just need a bit of time to come to terms with this.

Here is a few photos of my lovely dad.

RIP Dad ♥

New Look Try On Haul

Hi everyone

I am back with a new name!  The reason for the name change is that I wanted my blog the same name as my instagram and as the two loves in my life apart from my husband is my cat and my wardrobe.

For anyone who is new to reading my blog I can confess I am a massive shopaholic!  I am going to be posting a lot of outfit posts and haul posts so I would love your comments.

Today I thought I would do a New Look haul along with Try on photos so you can see the items on me.  Its a bit more interesting than just showing photos of the items!

Lately I feel New Look has been excellent and I have purchased a few items.  Most of items were brought online.

Cameo Rose Navy Floral Playsuit

This is stunning I really love this playsuit and its a nice length too and not too short.  I can see me wearing this daytime in the evening with heels or sandals.

 White Floral Embroidered Playsuit

This pretty playsuit is from the Teens section!  However its lovely and a really nice length.   Its really nice quality with gorgeous embroidered flowers on.

Grey Embroidered Bardot Jumper

This pretty jumper was in the sale from £27.99 reduced to £8.00.  I think its super cute.  I am unsure whether it looks better on or off the shoulder.  Its a really nice material and ideal for when the weather is a bit cooler.  By the way I am wearing a nude slip in case you thought I was naked beneath it!! haha

Broderie Anglais Bardot dress

This beach style dress is see through so I think its more something you would wear over a bikini. However I am going to wear it as a dress with a nude slip under.  I was concerned it made me look bigger than I am but as its super pretty and feminine I cannot bear to return it.  What do you think?  Keep or return? I am a sucker for broderie anglais white dresses!

White Floral Embroidered Top

I was not 100% sure about this as I am not really a t-shirt type of girl however I think this is quite pretty.

So there you have it just a small haul.  Please leave me any comments below I would be really happy to hear your thoughts?

I am back with a New Dressing Table tour!

Hi everyone

I am backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!

After a long absence from blogging and a lot of thinking I  have made the decision that I wanted to carry on with the blog. I had literally run out of ideas but now I am trying to come up with some new ones and I have really missed blogging!

I am going to carry on with the haul posts and I have quite a few coming up.

I have a homeware haul, charity shop haul, an autumn haul and maybe a couple of others.  I bought a lot over summer which I may put in a blog post too.  I am going to try and do some more outfit posts too.

We have done a lot to the house over the summer, we decorated our hallway, spare room and kitchen and I am really into 'Cath Kidston' style accessories.  So if you like CK then stay tuned.

Please let me know if there is anything you would like to see on the blog and I will try and make it happen.

Anyway onto my post which is about my lovely new dressing table.  Like I mentioned we redecorated the spare room recently and I have wanted a white dressing table for while.  I saw one on Dunelm which was £169 but when I saw this one from Tesco Direct at only £79.99 thought it looked nicer.  I am so impressed with this, my husband put it together for me and its perfect.  I love the fact it has little drawers you can put your hair slides/jewellery in.

The two drawers at the front I have all my hair accessories.  Underneath the large pack of pins and slides I have an ASOS jewellery box full with hair slides!

In the other drawer I keep my face wipes, a few make up items that I don't carry around and moisturiser.

In the small drawers I have my earrings in one and the other has bracelets and watches.

I have my favourite scent on one side which is The Body Shop British Rose and my Cath Kidston pot which holds my make up brushes.

The other sides has my Cath Kidston floral tumbler with some pink fake roses I got from Ebay.

Underneath the shelf I have 2 pandora boxes with rings in and Mike's nans vintage brush and mirror set which was handed down to me. I love this set and its true vintage!

I also have my DKNY watch and my Clogau Locket necklace Mike bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago.

The only thing I am not 100% sure about was the stool covering as it does not really match the room, however I am going to get some (preferable Cath Kidston style) fabric and cover this.

Anyway hope you like my little tour and don't forget please let me know of anything you would like to see on the blog.

Disney and Charity Shop/Ebay purchases ♥

Hiya everyone

I cannot believe its nearly June and we are off on holiday in a few weeks, we are only going to Devon this year but I personally love Devon & Cornwall.

Two weeks ago we booked a pretty big holiday and I am so excited.  We have booked to go to Disney World in Florida next May staying at the Disney Beach Club hotel which is a Deluxe Disney Hotel.   To say I am looking forward to it is an understatement.  We went to Disney about 10 years ago and stayed in a Villa and hired a car.  I have wanted to go back for a while and wanted to stay at a Disney Hotel.  We were going to stay at the Grand Floridian Spa which looks amazing and is the Disney's flagship hotel, however its quite a distance from the theme parks (except Magic Kingdom)  and we wanted something that was closer.  We chose the Beach House as its has the best pool of any Disney hotel and its within walking distance of Epcot and Hollywood Studios and you can get the ferry boat to places.  Plus its near the Broadwalk and the Swan and Dolphin hotels so plenty of places to eat within walking distance.  The hotel we are staying at looks gorgeous the pool has a sand bottom and Stormalong river slide.

Anyway with that in mind I have been purchasing a few summer items for this year and for Orlando which I shall show you in a separate post.

Today though I wanted to show you my Charity Shop bargains I have recently purchased.

Firstly my most favourite item was a complete bargain I got this Johann Earl dress for £4.00 and it was brand new with tags.  I love Johann Earl their items seem very vintage looking and they usually cost upwards of £50 so I was so happy when i saw this.  I think the Charity Shop obviously never realised how expensive their dresses are!

Model photo

I also got this Louche Bow Print dress for £4.50, I love Louche dresses but they are so dear! What annoys me is they are mainly polyester which annoys the hell out of me as they cling to you like clingfilm, however I purchased a non cling slip from BHS and that really helps.  Considering this dress was about £45.00 this is a bargain.

Then I got this Kimchi Blue at Urban Outfitters cream dress, this was about £4.50 and again Kimchi Blue dresses retail at £40 upwards.

Topshop Floral Print Dress - I had this dress before but it got torn so I threw it out however I saw it on Ebay in a smaller size and got it for just £3.99.

Lastly I got this Select Floral Tea Dress for £2.50 (its brand new with tags) I used to have this dress in a size 12 but managed to get it in a size 8.

I love charity shop bargains and as I now have to try and stop spending as this holiday cost a small fortune I may need to go into them more!

BIG ASOS SPRING HAUL

Hello everyone

Lately I feel the high street has not had much to offer I mean where are all the pastels and pretty dresses?  I feel online you can get better bargains and discounts and lately I have started to become a bit obsessed with Asos.  I joined their Premier service and must say its well worth £9.95 a year for unlimited next day delivery.

I have seen loads of things on there I want, some in the sale and some non sale and I ended up ordering quite a lot!  I ordered about 12 items in total but sent some back.

Anyway these are the items I loved and was definitely keeping.

Missguided Ribbed Wrap Dress

This dress was £22 and I think its sold out now.  I just love everything about this dress, its a lovely dusky pink colour, the style is very flattering and I do not have anything like this in my wardrobe.

Asos Tea Dress with Ruffle Detail

When I saw this online at full price of £35 I loved it but was worried about the ruffle part on my bust. However when I saw it reduced to £21 I thought I would order it.  I originally ordered a size 10 but it was massive on me so I re-ordered the size 8.  Its a gorgeous dress and the ruffle does not make my chest appear bigger which is what I wanted.

Style London Dress with Contrast Hem and Belted Waist

This dress was £52 reduced to £20 and its gorgeous.  I ordered a Small but wish I had got the XS as I think it may have been better but again this is gorgeous and looks really classy.

Monki Embroidered Button Front Dress

This was another sale item it was £30 reduced to £10 and well worth the money.  I love broderie anglais its so feminine and girly and this dress is so pretty.

Asos Shirt Dress with Scallop Hem

This was not in the sale it did cost me £30 however I am 'scallop' mad haha!  I bought a couple of 'scallop' items in H&M the other day too.  I love this its like a thick ponte material.  Its nicely fitted and looks lovely with a tan waist belt and tan shoes.  I actually think the model does not do this dress justice.

Asos Empire Washed Skater Dress with Lace Bib

This is a sale item it was £28 reduced to £7.00.  High necklines don't tend to suit me too well as I am busty however I love this dress and its pretty.  Its worth £7 but I will probably wear a vest top under to spare my blushes! :)

Asos Lullaby Pointed Ballet Flats

I really wanted some nice flat tan shoes that were a bit more superior to Primark flats.  I love tan shoes/boots and much prefer wearing tan to black.   These look lovely with or without opaques tights so I am hoping these will last a while!

What do you think of my items?  Are you obsessed with ASOS?

Take care
